Join us for Day One of our Grand Opening Weekend Celebration, as we get ready for our very first Summer in our NEW STUDIO!
Opening this past March, we brought this little sewing business that we created in our little MontCo apartment to Bucks County’s iconic Buckingham Green Shopping Center, and BOY OH BOY, has it been a WILD and WONDERF-FILLED ride thus far!
Come tour the entire space - YES, you can even experience the workshop, as we will open it up to the public during the Grand Opening festivities, meet the amazing team of sewists and makers that we have gathered to work and play with your things, and learn a little bit more about us, what we do, and how and why we do it.
Children are welcome, and there will be activities for them out back (see the complete agenda, below). PLEASE NOTE THAT PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE STUDIO, and must be leashed and minded if visiting our outdoor activities. No exceptions.
AGENDA:
12:00PM - 4:00PM Learn to Stitch! - Children ages 5 and up - and that goes all the way to 100, can learn to: thread a needle, tie a knot, sew a straight stitch, and/or sew a button! There will be a tent out back, behind the shopping center at the SILVERMAN GALLERY end of the building.
12:30PM - 1:00PM - Welcome! Don’t miss this part!! Mildred will introduce herself and share the story of how the business was born, and how she and John, and the merry seamstresses wound up here in Buckingham.
1:00PM - First tour of the space. Every hour, on the hour, a tour of the 1200 sf facility will leave from the hall, just outside the Suite 2CC door. When tours are not being lead, access to the workshop is not permitted. If you have children inside the space - which we hope you do; we LOVE the children, you must have eyes, ears, and minds on them at all times, especially if they are on a tour of the workshop with us.
1:30PM - 4:00 PM - Relax and enjoy. Find or make friends. If you are a current client, talk about the types of things you have done with Mildred, and, if you have yet to work with us, share your ideas about what you would like to do or create. Whether you will simply need a pair of slacks hemmed, or you are endeavoring on a custom piece for a special occasion, talk about it!
There will be light snacks on both days that will be provided by other local Bucks County businesses (stay tuned, as plans continue to develop), but the focus of the weekend is to gather and to show our Gratitude to everyone and everything that has been and will be a part of this something WONDERFUL which we have created and will continue to cultivate for this community.
It is a very special thing we do here, and we are not just speaking about the sewing alone. Mildred’s Sewing & Alterations Studio is about more than than sewing. It is about the manner and the creativity with which we do it, and the weekend is about that as well; sharing with the fine folks around here the gift of knowing that we are here and ready to serve some really great and fun experiences!
Feel free to reach out with questions or to let us know you are coming!! We would love to hear from you, and we hope to see you there!
