Some Helpful Information. Please read before your first appointment at the studio.
PLEASE NOTE AND ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING:
We ask kindly for cancellations/rescheduling to be done at LEAST 24 HOURS prior to the appointment time. It is very easy to cancel and reschedule your appointment using our online booking system. You can also call 610.751.4587.
Please be prompt to all scheduled fittings and/or consultations. Clients arriving TEN MINUTES (or more) LATER than their scheduled time will not be seen. No exceptions.
Please be sure that any and all garments that will be fitted are CLEAN and PERFUME FREE. Mildred will not take items or garments that are soiled and/or smell strongly of smoke, perfumes, deodorants, detergents, fabric softeners or other scented products. If the garment or item is machine washable, a quick, warm, cycle through the washer with a light detergent (Mrs, Meyers, Seventh Generation, etc.) or vinegar should do, and if they are not machine washable please have them dry cleaned.
DO NOT FORGET the SHOES you will be wearing with your garment. Mildred will not pin hems with you standing on your tippy toes (-;
Please bring the proper and appropriate undergarments for your fitting. Mildred highly recommends a GOOD and STURDY shaper for EVERY BODY - especially when having any formal wear tailored or altered; tall or short, old or young, slim or curvy, what your wear "under there" is the FOUNDATION of your garment.
Pricing for alterations includes the cost of the INITIAL FITTING, as well as a FINAL FITTING, and the work is guaranteed*.
*The work that is guaranteed pertains to the FIT and design of the garment which was agreed upon between the client and The Dressmaker/Alterations Specialist. Please understand - of course - that there will be a charge for any changes thereafter, once the work is complete, No exceptions.
A list of estimated costs for most common alterations for everyday wear can be found at the bottom of our SERVICES page. Please note that all prices listed therein are a starting point, and that each job is priced individually and according to specifics like garment construction, type of fabric, and even the timeline* in which the piece is expected to be finished.
*Standard turn around time for everyday alterations is 3 weeks. If something needs to be finished sooner, we are more than happy to adjust our work schedule and out your things at the head of the queue for a fee. Please inquire when you call or come in.
BRIDAL GOWN alterations will normally add $500 to $1000 to the cost of the dress, so before you say "YES" to that dress, make sure you have included at least that much in your budget!
*Brides, PLEASE NOTE that, when leaving your gown with Mildred and it is agreed that she will be your Seamstress for your Bridal Alterations, you must be prepared to leave a $375 deposit ON THAT DAY; usually the day of your CONSULTATION & FIRST FIT. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please see more details below.Any additional fittings, for example in the case that you would change your mind about your wants or needs once work has begun, would be subject to an additional fee.
Additional fitting fees start at $25 per.
Standard alterations should not require more than one fitting.
BRIDES: A non-refundable*** deposit of 50% (of the total amount of the job proposal) is due before work will be commenced. The balance is due upon receipt of completed project and a ready to wear garment.
Fees for service are payable by CASH, CHECK, or CREDIT CARD. All credit card payments are subject to a 3% convenience fee.
CUSTOM DESIGNED PIECES ARE PRICED ACCORDING TO THE ENTIRETY OF THE PROJECT. Every job is different and is priced accordingly.
When working with Mildred on a custom piece, the cost of all materials, notions and supplies needed to construct the garment is the responsibility of the client. These items DO NOT INCLUDE, tools or machines. Mildred has a full and adequate studio for the work she does with her clients!
Any and all changes made to the agreed upon design after construction has begun are subject to additional costs. PLEASE KEEP LINES OF COMMUNICATION OPEN during this process, and ask lots of questions!
Mildred reserves the right to refuse/cancel her services with any client that chooses to exhibit rude, aggressive or insulting behavior**

***BRIDAL ALTERATIONS & CUSTOM PROJECTS are subject to a non-refundable deposit to be taken at the time of the delivery of the wedding gown or agreement to begin work on the custom piece, once the garment is in possession of the Alterations Specialist or work has begun on the custom garment. NO EXCEPTIONS.
